Google Glass to Get Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update, XE Updates To Come Less Often
The Google Glass team has announced last year that we will receive the XE13 updates in February, which is already over and the update hasn’t rolled out yet. And while the team announced that updates will start being monthly, like we got used to, they also noted that Glass will be updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Along with the announcement about KitKat, Glass Guide Teresa Zazenski also said that future updates will be bigger than previous ones and this is the main reason we won’t get them that often.
This being said, we expect the XE13 update to bring us a lot of new stuff and not just Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Unfortunately they didn’t offer any ETA, but we hope it’s going to roll out this month.
The pace isn’t changing and we’re still committed to regular updates for Glass – even if they’re not monthly anymore, because bigger updates just take more time. In fact, we’re working to move Glass from Ice Cream Sandwich to Kit Kat to make the Glass experience smoother and just plain better. This change will make it easier for us to bring you more useful updates and it’s something we’re really excited about. Developers, we know you’re gonna be excited, too. But it’s also something that we don’t want to send to you all until it’s just right.
Until December we’ve always had a new XE update every month and Google announced that there won’t be any update in January, due to the holidays, but it seems like they’ve changed their mind in the meantime.
Above all, it’s good to know that they are still commited to Google Glass and we might have a very nice surprise once the XE13 update is ready.
We will let you know once we find out more information on this issue.
